Mark your calendars for October 1 and 2, 2009, because the Big Art Sale is debuting in Detroit! The Detroit Institute of Arts and DuMouchelle Art Galleries are giving you the opportunity to support the museum, while also purchasing high-end art pieces. The invite-only Preview Night party, October 1, will feature a live and a silent auction. The live evening auction on October 2 will be open to the public. Daytime viewing will be available on both days, along with online viewing and pre-bidding in the weeks preceding the auction. Auction items will include donated fine art, such as paintings, sculpture, prints, drawings, photographs, ceramics, jewelry, tapestries, carpets, small scale furniture, decorative service pieces and crystal.
